We are hiring an Accounting Administrator (a Full-time, permanent position) working out of Collingwood, ON. We welcome applications from both internal and external candidates. As an Accounting Administrator, you play a key role in supporting the finance team by ensuring the accuracy and integrity of financial records and reporting. You will contribute to core accounting activities including reconciliations, journal entries, and month-end processes, while also supporting pension and benefit administration for employees and retirees in a timely manner.

 

What you’d be responsible for

Reporting to the Manager Commercial Services, you will be responsible for the following (but not limited to):

 

  • Ensuring the delivery of results against performance metrics, including customer expectations, productivity, quality, reliability, and on-time delivery.
  • Applying strong understanding of financial reporting and general ledger structures.
  • Identifying and recommending financial process improvements to enhance the quality and timeliness of financial information.
  • Providing procedural and financial data to internal and external auditors in a timely manner.
  • Preparing monthly and year-end close activities, ensuring accuracy and meeting corporate deadlines.
  • Preparing general ledger reconciliations, investigating discrepancies, and resolving issues.
  • Preparing and posting journal entries, including unbilled revenue, routine and non-routine projects or reconciliation adjustments.
  • Handling and maintaining highly confidential financial and personnel information with discretion.
  • Supporting the monthly preparation of the regulatory trial balance and assisting with annual financial statements, including the final trial balance and supporting notes.
  • Preparing and reconciling monthly intercompany billings for Ontario, ensuring alignment across EPCOR entities.
  • Providing cross-functional support and backup as needed to meet departmental and corporate objectives.

 

What’s required to be successful

The successful candidate will possess the following qualifications, experience and behaviours:

 

Education & Credentials:

  • Completion of a two (2) year Business Administration or Accounting diploma from a recognized post-secondary educational institution.

 

Experience that includes:

  • 2+ years accounting experience including preparation of journal entries and balance sheet reconciliations.
  • Preparing financial reporting and variance analysis
    • Exposure to supporting audit requests and regulatory reporting would be considered an asset.

 

Technical Skills

  • Solid knowledge and understanding of general accounting principles, general ledger structures and account reconciliation practices
  • Ability to prepare and analyze journal entries, investigate discrepancies and reconcile balance sheet accounts.
  • Proficiency in the use of Microsoft Excel and experience working with financial systems (e.g., Oracle or similar ERP systems)

Hours of work: 40 hours per week

 

Wage: Starting at $28.69 per hour (Final Wage and Step will be determined at the time of selection and based on a combination of factors as outlined in the Collective Agreement)
